Every time you pick up the paper or turn on the tele, you get an earful of how terrible things are in real estate. Surprise, surprise. All this negative talk is enough to make a recovery stall! It's no surprise that what goes around comes around.
But take heart! We live in Dallas, and real estate isn't nearly as bad here as it is in other parts of the country. We should concentrate on the local economy, and let the rest of the country take care of its self. Most economists knew that the government largesse via the home buying incentives that ended in July would have an adverse effect on the number of homes sold ATER the incentive ended. What we didn't know is that the decrease in home sales from June to July would be as steep as it turned out to be. After all the exuberance of the home buying incentives, it naturally followed that home sales would slow.
The expected recovery has slowly started. It is going to take time before the real estate biz catches its breath, but it will. Home prices will not crater, the economy will not fall into a deeper recession, and the sky is not falling!
If you have good credit, if you have some money for a down payment, NOW, this very moment, is a great time to buy a home. Call me, and I'll walk you through it!
The year to date figures to the left have some bright spot and some dark spots. The good news is that under Average Sales Price, prices are moving up. The numbers of homes sold are down, and the numbers of new listings are up, and that combination is not particularly helpful.
